Since 1979, Vadis has helped businesses to successfully hire people with disabilities. We work to provide companies with the right employee in the right position. We begin by planning around people's choices and interests. We assess skills and interests. Then, we match this to business needs. We offer our business partners full training and support in the employment process. We call it Positive Supports.

Papa John’s Pizza is known for using excellent quality ingredients. Now Papa John's will also be recognized for their value in diversity, commitment to hiring people with disabilities, empowering individuals to reach their goals and develop their skills, supporting and providing leadership to the community. These are just a few examples why Papa John’s Pizza was awarded Vadis’ 2007 Employer of the Year.
Papa John’s Pizza has 10 stores in Pierce County; the Lakewood store was the first to open in Pierce County in January, 1999. Since that time, nine more stores have opened around the county. Peter Ogg, Operating Partner has been instrumental in successfully hiring 3 people with developmental disabilities. Upon meeting with Vadis, he created an employment opportunity that could benefit the stores. Clarence Grayson, Manager in Lakewood, is very happy with hiring Andy last year through Vadis. Clarence stated, “Andy, my employee from Vadis, is a great addition to my crew. He always comes in ready to go and we enjoy him working with us at Papa John’s Pizza.”
Seth Dearing, Manager for the Graham store has been very pleased with the additional benefits that Tabatha has brought since she started working there last year. “Over the last 15 months, Tabatha has gone from being the shy girl we had to talk in from the car to being a helpful and outgoing member of our crew. Not only does she fold all the boxes that keep us delivering pizzas, but she has begun looking for other ways to keep us ahead of the rush. Each day she spends here is well worth the investment and we are glad to have her as our support team”, Seth shared.
Maria has been working at the South Hill store for 15 month now. Jon Colvin, Manager for that store was quick to add, “Having the opportunity to work with Maria has really been great. I used to be a little close-minded about a lot of things, but working with both Tabatha and Maria has really opened my eyes to those capabilities that people with disabilities have. This is a great program, and it really benefits all parties involved. It’s just been really nice.”
Peter summed it up by adding, “We at Papa John’s Pizza enjoy the opportunity to work with Vadis. It is a pleasure to see our Vadis referred Team Members develop skills and succeed in the workplace. Our relationship with the Vadis Job Coaches has also been great. Their communication with our managers is seamless and their attention to our needs as a company is always a top priority.
