The work performed by the Vadis crews not only provides a service to the City of Federal Way, but also to the general public. We have had so many positive resonses to the crew's perfomance. I would not hesitate to recommend Vadis to another municipality or organization.

Supported Employment

We provide supported employment services in both individual and group settings

Individual Supported Employment and Pathway to Employment

Vadis assists people with developmental disabilities to set career goals through an exciting process of discovery. As a team we work to find a job that matches your skills, interest and support needs. We creatively job develop, often finding non traditional jobs.

Sometimes, a person may not be ready to start paid employment. If that is the case, we help you prepare and train for a job. This is known as a Pathway to Employment. You may learn skills in volunteer opportunities, classes or other job-related activities in the community.

Once you get a job, volunteer opportunity or other related activity, an Employment Consultant will support you so that you can be successful. We guide you as you learn and grow. We also show employers and community members how to assist you.

Most people who participate in Vadis’ Individual Employment or Pathway to Employment services have long term success. We achieve these results through careful job matching. Sometimes this means it may take awhile to find the right job for you. Most people say it is worth the wait.

Group Supported Employment

In Group Supported Employment you work on a crew of 5-8 people with a supervisor who trains and guides you. Crew members work together to maximize efficiency, learn new skills and share the companionship of coworkers.

Group Supported Employment offers a variety of work experiences. Indoor work includes cleaning and product maintenance at Lowe’s and Home Depot. Working outdoors, we do landscaping maintenance and litter control for the Cities of Auburn, Federal Way, SeaTac, Puyallup and the Sumner School District. Warehouse work includes recycling materials at JMK Fibers.

Group Supported Employment offers you the extra advantage of having a Vadis supervisor working with you throughout the workday. Workers are paid based on their individual productivity. If you begin working on a crew, you may choose to move into Individual Employment when you feel the time is right. On average, wages are higher in Individual Employment. Openings on crews become available when someone moves or retires from a crew; there is not always a spot available.
