Another Door Opens
After Joshua lost his job due to the pandemic, Vadis set out to find him a new one! Vadis matched him up with Costco and he was hired. He completed orientation this week and is starting part time doing sanitation, carts, box collecting, and helping customers with loading and unloading. He is so happy to be working again! When one door closes, another door opens.
Returning to Work
Eric began working at Best Buy in August of 2018 as an Inventory Specialist. Due to the pandemic, he was furloughed this past April. He was recently brought back to work and has done an amazing job learning the changes that occurred while he was away.
Learning New Things
Domino's Pizza in Sumner recently learned about Supported Employment and were excited to hire through Vadis. Both the General Manager and assistant manager are incredible natural supports and help their new employee, Michael, learn and grow in his position. Michael had a different job prior to the pandemic, but his employer wasn't able to bring him back, so Vadis helped him find a new job in August - working for Domino's.
Recognition of Excellence on the Job
Global Connections to Employment (GCE), a past recipient of Vadis' Employer of the Year award, awards coins to their employees for doing excellent work. These mission, vision, and value coins represent five different areas of achievement: ownership, integrity, compassion, excellence, and service. Mitchell just began working at GCE in July and has already earned the Service coin! Once all five coins have been earned by an employee, they receive a special plaque.
Staying Work-Ready Through a Pandemic
Debbie had volunteered at Francis house and had worked at the Orting School District and was ready to get back to work again. Vadis began the hunt for a great job match and found a position that was well-matched to the tasks Debbie prefers doing. She was hired as a lobby atendant at Jack in the Box in August of 2019.
Happy Retirement, Dana Mossman!
It is with a flurry of emotions that we at Vadis say goodbye to Dana Mossman, as she retires this week after a 14-year career at Vadis. Grateful for all that she brough to our organization, Happy that she is off on a new adventure, and Sad that we couldn't talk her into staying longer. She has brought so much to the individuals we support, the staff she mentored and lead, and to the numerous employers that she connected to supported employment services.
Living the Dream
Bryden wanted a job working around horses. His Vadis team set out to make that dream come true and now he is a farm hand for Opus Arabians in Graham! Bryden washes grain and water buckets, cleans towels and horse polos, cleans the hay room, and discards excess hay in front of the stalls. By the smile on his face, it's pretty clear he is in his element.
